Job Description

The Team Lead Branch Sales Officer (BSO) in Coronation Securities is responsible for driving sales and revenue growth by promoting financial products and services within the Company. As a Team Lead, this role involves supervising the sales team, setting targets, monitoring performance, and providing guidance to ensure goals are met. The Team Lead fosters collaboration, motivates staff, and enhances customer satisfaction while contributing to the branch's overall growth and reputation.

Responsibilities

1. Sales and Business Development
• Lead the branch sales team in achieving individual and collective sales targets across investment products such as equities, fixed income securities, mutual funds, and other brokerage services.
• Engage walk-in clients and prospects, providing tailored investment advisory and promoting Coronation’s full suite of financial products and services.
• Collaborate with the branch manager and other departments (e.g., research, asset management) to identify cross-selling opportunities and optimize client engagement.
• Track market trends and business opportunities to expand the branch’s client base and revenue streams.
2. Client Relationship Management
• Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients by offering personalized investment solutions that align with their financial goals and risk appetite.

• Oversee the team’s client management efforts, ensuring consistent and exceptional service delivery that reinforces client trust and loyalty.
• Monitor team performance in managing client portfolios, resolving queries, and ensuring timely execution of trades.
• Support account opening, KYC documentation, and onboarding processes to deliver a seamless client experience.
3. Market and Product Knowledge
• Stay abreast of trends in the capital market, including stock performance, economic indicators, and regulatory changes to guide both team and client decisions.
• Provide ongoing training and support to ensure team members have a deep understanding of securities products and market dynamics.
• Encourage proactive use of research reports and market insights to strengthen client advisory and portfolio strategies.
4. Sales Reporting and Performance Monitoring
• Review, consolidate, and submit daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports to management with detailed performance analysis and actionable recommendations.
• Evaluate team KPIs against set targets, identify performance gaps, and implement strategic initiatives for improvement.
• Collaborate with compliance and operations teams to ensure accuracy in client reporting and trade documentation.
5. Compliance and Risk Management
• Ensure full adherence to regulatory guidelines from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Nigerian Exchange (NGX), and internal compliance standards.
• Oversee the team’s compliance in all client interactions, product recommendations, and transaction execution.
• Monitor and report potential risks related to trading, client portfolios, or operational processes, while implementing risk mitigation strategies.
• Ensure that all documentation, including trade confirmations and client records, are accurate and submitted within regulatory timelines.
6. Collaboration and Leadership
• Foster cross-functional collaboration with research, operations, and compliance teams to ensure smooth execution of sales strategies.
• Conduct regular team meetings and strategy sessions to share best practices, discuss market opportunities, and align on goals.
• Champion a performance-driven culture through coaching, performance appraisals, and continuous development of team members.
• Contribute to the development of branch growth initiatives and represent the sales team in strategic planning sessions.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Economics, or related field.
• Experience: 4 years of experience in sales or business development within the financial services industry, preferably in a stockbroking firm.
• Strong sales and negotiation skills with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding targets.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse customers.
• Ability to identify customer needs and recommend the most suitable financial products.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• High level of attention to detail and commitment to maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
